SUMMARY:2026 Boston Marathon for Race Amity
DESCRIPTION:On April 20\, 2026\, Emily Landsman will run the 130th Boston Marathon to raise awareness of the power and importance of cross-racial friendships and to raise funds for the National Center for Race Amity. Emily says: \n“I grew up in Holden\, MA and started running track in middle school. I went on to run middle-distance in high school and was captain of my college track team at Holy Cross in Worcester\, MA. For the past ten years\, I’ve been living in VT my husband Sam and our kids\, Lucy and Nolan. After many years away from consistent running\, I’m grateful for the chance to participate in the Boston Marathon and represent Race Amity. I was introduced to this organization by my father-in-law\, a long time friend of founder William “Smitty” Smith\, and I’m proud to be able to run in support of such a worthy and needed cause.” \nEmily’s father-in-law\, Herb Landsman\, is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Race Amity. Herb learned about the race amity movement from his long-time friend and neighbor\, Dr. William “Smitty” Smith\, who founded NCRA and served as its executive director until his passing in December 2024. \n“Our family treasured our friendship with Smitty\, his wife Marcia and their kids. We are committed to carrying on the vital work he initiated and are so pleased to make this contribution toward promoting cross-racial friendships and partnerships in all walks of life.” \nDouble your impact! The Landsman family will generously match every donation dollar for dollar up to our campaign goal of $7500! \n \n Donate Now!

SUMMARY:Riders for Race Amity Presentation and Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:The Riders 4 Race Amity are an interracial group of teens undertaking an annual\, two-week\, cross-country cycling journey to raise awareness of the power and importance of cross-racial friendships. This year\, their journey follows the route of the Freedom Riders from Washington\, DC to Jackson\, MS\, situating the ride within a longer Freedom Ride tradition of interracial travel through public space as moral witness and public demonstration of shared belonging. The Riders will be in Atlanta on June 19 and 20. \nJoin us at 7pm on Friday evening\, June 19\, for a presentation by the Riders 4 Race Amity youth\, after which participants will be offered two options to engage: 1) Participate in a Race Amity Roundtable\, a dialogue circle using principles of restorative justice to explore barriers to cross-racial friendship\, or 2) Help decorate bikes and vehicles for Atlanta’s Juneteenth parade the following morning\, Saturday\, June 20. \nOn Saturday\, June 20\, everyone is invited to join the Riders in marching for Race Amity in Atlanta’s annual Juneteenth parade (https://www.juneteenthatl.com/)\, starting at 10 am at the MLK National Historical Park and proceeding to Piedmont Park. \nPlease consider supporting the Riders 4 Race Amity initiative.
