UnityWorks

Supporting educators in building school communities where every student belongs.

UnityWorks

School communities grow stronger when educators learn and act together.

UnityWorks is an educator-centered approach to reducing prejudice and strengthening cross-racial and cross-cultural understanding, equity, and inclusion in K–12 schools.

Grounded in the oneness of humanity, the value of diversity, and the need for unity, it connects professional learning with action shaped by each school community.

Change shaped by the people closest to it

Developed by educator Randie Gottlieb, Ed.D., UnityWorks works through teachers, school leaders, and school-based teams. The model helps educators connect their own learning about bias, culture, and inclusion with the everyday life of their schools.

Rather than prescribing one curriculum for every classroom, UnityWorks supports teams in developing their own Diversity Action Plans. Local priorities guide the work, giving educators a shared framework and room to respond to the needs of their community.

Three connected elements

Professional Learning

Educators explore prejudice and bias, culture and communication, equity, and inclusion through interactive learning and reflection.

School-Based Teams

Teams identify priorities in their own school community and develop a Diversity Action Plan shaped by local needs, relationships, and experience.

Tools for Local Action

Educational resources and practical planning tools support educators as they move from shared understanding to changes in school life.

From shared learning to local action

The action-planning approach makes reflection and improvement part of the work. Each team’s priorities and context shape the steps it takes.

Listen & Reflect

Consider school climate, relationships, and the experiences of students, staff, and families.

Set Local Priorities

Identify where the school community wants to make progress.

Create an Action Plan

Choose practical strategies, responsibilities, and ways to review progress.

Learn & Adapt

Reflect on what is changing and refine the plan over time.
