Call for Proposals to Present Breakout Sessions at the 2020 National Race Amity Virtual Conference.

Those selected to present will join this year’s keynote presenters and special artistic presentations to offer stimulating and action-oriented sessions around the conference theme, “Reset to Our Destiny – E Pluribus Unum”.

Keynote speakers at the 2020 conference will include, along with others:

  • Activists/Authors – Joy DeGruy,  Howard Ross Debby Irving
  • Entertainers/Activist – Penn Badgley and Rainn Wilson –
  • International Activist/Author – Don Mullan
  • Award-winning journalist – Celeste Headlee

CALL FOR PROPOSAL GUIDELINES

The National Center for Race Amity is pleased to announce a Call for Proposals for Breakout Session Presenters at the 2020 National Race Amity Virtual Conference, November 19-20th. This is an invitation for presentations related to the conference theme, “Reset to Our Destiny – E Pluribus Unum.

The National Race Amity Conference, celebrating its 10th year, offers participants positive focused opportunities for intimate discussion circles, interactive panels, and informative sessions on a variety of topics central to the main theme of race amity. The National Race Amity Conference is organized around presentations in the arts, business, community service, education, entertainment, government, spirituality, law, media communications, activism, and sports.

We invite those who have insight, skills, research, art, programs, and other means of expression that would be complementary to the conference theme to submit a proposal to present during a conference breakout session.

As the deadline for submissions will be August 7th, interested parties should submit proposals as soon as possible. Those selected to present will join this year’s keynote presenters and special artistic presentations to offer stimulating and action-oriented sessions around the conference theme, “Reset to Our Destiny – E Pluribus Unum”.

Keynote speakers at the 2020 conference will include, along with others, Activists/Authors Joy DeGruy, Howard Ross, Debby Irving; Entertainers/Activist Penn Badgley and Rainn Wilson, International Activist/Author Don Mullan and award-winning journalist Celeste Headlee.

Presentation Guidelines:

  • A limited number will be chosen from those submitted.
  • Presenters must be available to present in either of the following time frames: 10AM – 4PM, Thursday, 11/19; 10AM to 6PM, Friday, 11/20.  All times listed are Eastern Standard Time
  • Presentations will be made in a 75-minute time block that includes times for participant Q&A. Presenters may be asked to make a repeat presentation.
  • Conference registration fees will be waived for presenters. Conference registration includes all conference sessions and the conference gift.
  • Authored Material: Presenters may announce their authored materials and where to get to get them in their presentations.

Required Information for Proposal Submission

A. Presentation Title

B. Presenter(s) Information: Please submit the names, city/state, experience/credentials, phone numbers, email addresses, institution/company/organization, and brief (150 words or less) bio for presenter(s).

C. Presentation Summary: Provide a session summary that clearly describes your proposed presentation. This summary should not be more than three type-written double-spaced pages in 12 pt font. Use this opportunity to indicate the larger context and purpose of the proposal and to provide additional information, such as rationale, background, historical information, linkage with local or national events, etc. Provide a clearly stated purpose and objectives of the presentation. List any learning outcomes, takeaways, and/or actions that stem from attending this session.

D. Tech assistance: A standard Zoom breakout room holds 20 to 40, though most sessions are more intimate and average 12 to 25. Please note if any tech assistance is required for your Zoom presentation. You may supply your own electronic copies, to be distributed to participants, and you may also post them in the chat for immediate engagement.
